Can you tell me about your role at TAKEX?

I’m responsible for business operations across EMEA, supporting both our sales team and distributor network.

As a time-served electrician specialised in fire and security, my career has seen me take on roles as diverse as Regional Installations Manager at Chubb, National Account Manager at ADT and Sales Manager at Chubb.

With more than 40 years in the industry, I now combine that technical grounding with commercial experience to help customers get what they need.

I’m also very hands-on – if you need support on the tools, I’m always happy to get involved.

Can you tell our readers about your new VS‑1000E Vape & Smoking Sensor and how it works?

VS-1000E is an exciting one; a discreet new sensor designed to quickly and accurately detect vaping and smoking activities.

It leverages high-sensitivity particle sensing and advanced detection algorithms to identify vape aerosols, even in challenging environments like toilets or changing rooms.

Its real strength is in its simplicity: There’s no special software, no annual licenses, fees or apps required.

It can be easily integrated into almost any building management system, making it ideal for schools, offices and public facilities.

And, most importantly, it doesn’t use cameras or microphones. It’s purely about detection, not surveillance, so privacy is fully respected.

What are the key reasons you developed the VS‑1000E Vape & Smoking Sensor?

The VS‑1000E Vape & Smoking Sensor was created in response to the sharp increase in student vaping, particularly within schools.

Research shows a growing number of pupils experimenting with or regularly using vapes, and schools are under pressure to respond quickly and effectively.

This product helps them do exactly that, providing a discreet but reliable way to detect and deter vaping.

We also wanted to create something that doesn’t compromise privacy.

Unlike other monitoring systems, VS-1000E includes no cameras or audio recordings, making it an ideal solution for private spaces such as restrooms and locker rooms.

On top of that, it’s built with practicality in mind: No annual fees, simple maintenance and a five-year warranty for true peace of mind.

What is on the horizon for TAKEX in the near future?

It’s a busy and exciting time for us.

We’ve already introduced some important technologies this year, and we’re now very close to launching a new type of sensor that can pick up the subtlest human movements, all while operating completely out of sight.
