The fitness industry has seen a surge in 24/7 access models, offering unparalleled convenience to members, reports Brivo.
However, this accessibility presents unique security challenges, particularly for unstaffed facilities. HOTWORX, a rapidly expanding fitness franchise with nearly 800 studios worldwide, faced this exact dilemma.
It needed a robust, scalable security solution that could integrate access control and video surveillance to protect its 250,000 members and facilities.
Unifying access and video for enhanced security
HOTWORX’s operational model demanded a system that could provide complete visibility into its studios around the clock.
Its primary objective was to ensure secure member entry and exit without the need for constant on-site staffing. To achieve this, it needed a solution that could:
Integrate access control and video surveillance: By combining access events with real-time video, HOTWORX gained a unified view of every entry and exit. This integration, powered by Brivo and Eagle Eye Networks, streamlined security monitoring and accelerated incident verification, eliminating the complexities of managing disparate systems.
Automate member onboarding and credentialing: To support rapid growth and reduce administrative burden, the security system needed to communicate with HOTWORX’s existing point-of-sale (POS) system. Brivo developed a custom integration that automatically synced access rights with member enrollment, providing immediate credentialing upon sign-up.
Leverage mobile access: Recognising the convenience and security benefits, HOTWORX implemented mobile access credentials. It collaborated with Brivo to white-label the Brivo Mobile Pass directly into the HOTWORX app, offering a frictionless member experience and reducing the likelihood of shared credentials.
Transformational results for a growing enterprise
The integrated solution from Brivo and Eagle Eye Networks has been “mission critical for everything we do,” as Stephen P. Smith, Founder and CEO of HOTWORX, states.
The system’s scalability has been instrumental in HOTWORX’s rapid expansion, automating security processes across its global footprint.
This unified approach ensures a secure environment for both staff and members, whether the facility is staffed or unstaffed.
Robyn Powell, VP of Information Technology at HOTWORX, added: “It’s not just about protecting the facility; it’s about protecting our members and ensuring they have a safe and secure place to work out.”
By combining Eagle Eye Networks’ robust video surveillance with Brivo’s pioneering cloud-native access control, HOTWORX has not only solved its unique security and operational challenges but has also laid the foundation for continued global expansion.
